About SkillsUSA 2022-2023 Chapter

Committed to Developing Career Ready Students

SkillsUSA is a nonprofit education association that serves middle schools, high schools, and colleges to prepare them for careers in technical, trade, and skilled service occupations. The SkillsUSA mission is to “empower students to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible US citizens. This mission is possible through the SkillsUSA Framework, which strives to develop a student’s personal, workplace, and technically grounded academic skills.

Since 1965, the start of SkillsUSA, SkillsUSA has served nearly 14 million annual members cumulatively and has been sponsored by over 650 national partners which include businesses, trade associations, and unions. SkillsUSA has also been recognized by the  US Department of Education and the US Department of Labor. SkillsUSA covers over 130 US jobs in their curriculum and there are thousands of fundraising activities held annually.

In the CCTS SkillsUSA Chapter, the advisors and officers support each member in their competition and during fundraising. We held monthly chapter meetings to give updates on fundraisers, competition dues and dates, and other events. Our chapter also participates in SkillsUSA Fall Conference, and Chapter Excellence Program. We hope that you will enjoy your time competing, fundraising, and participating in a variety of events.

SkillsUSA Competition

Building the Future Of The American Workforce

Known as SkillsUSA Championship, members of each chapter compete in a specific career competition that starts at a local level and move up to state level and finally national level where only the b best members across America compete. There are a variety of competitions to choose from with each revolving around a certain career and set of skills. There are over 100 competitions annually with them in total occupying the space of 31 football stadiums or 41 acres. In the national event for SkillsUSA championship, there are over 6,500 state champion competitors and over 2,000 judges and contest organizers that manage it. The mission of SkillsUSA championship is to reward students food exxcellence, to involve industry in directly evaluating student performance and to keep training relevant to employers needs. We recommend you check out the Technical Standards for SkillsUSA competitions as they provide rules, overviews, uniform requirements and equipment needed for each event.

SkillsUSA Benefits

Passionate About Helping Our Members Be Successful

For a member to receive the full benefits that SkillsUSA offers, you have to pay or get sponsored by a teacher/staff member of your school for their national dues which cost $8 plus the states dues, which may vary. The money goes to the SkillsUSA chapter, which will be used for buying equipment for competition, hosting events and creating fundraisers. However, even if you still can’t pay for the SkillsUSA national dues, you will receive many benefits, which include being able to fundraise,  gain the essential Skills of the SkillsUSA Framework and volunteer for school events that our chapter will participate in. If your dues are paid, you will receive the benefit of being able to compete at a locat, state and national level, national and state scholarships and awards, and develop leadership and professional skills that are essential to future career success.
