Previous Impact, Projects, And Awards
Clothe/ Can Drive
Mely Castro, president of Camden County Technical School Gloucester Campus, proposed, organized, and managed a clothing/ can food drive in 2022-23. She was able to collect over thirty cans and three enormous bags of clothing. Mely’s Can food/ clothing drive was extremely successful with the goods going to those in need, especially during those long and brutal winter nights when all you want is a jacket and some hot food.
Annual Popcorn Fundraiser
Our SkillsUSA Chapter and the FCCLA Chapter did the annual popcorn fundraiser working with Poppin Popcorn. The combination of both Chapters was able to sell over 300 bags of popcorn! (Need to meet with Mrs. Laucks sometime to talk about the Financial system)
Country Meat Stick Fundraiser
Mr. Campeggio, one of the advisors for SkillsUSA, decided to do a new fundraiser idea during the 2022-23 SkillsUSA Chapter. Mr. Campeggio did a Country Meat fundraiser that was able to raise nearly $75 in profits.
Book Smile Drive
Mely Castro, Olamide Daodu, and Marjorie Juarez Aguilar proposed, organized, and managed a book drive, partnering with Book Smiles to not only donate books for children who speak English but also for children who only speak Spanish. The three gathered volunteers to translate children's books from English to Spanish even creating videos of them reading the books in Spanish that would be posted on the YouTube channel called “ReadingIsFun”. Their sheer determination resulted in donating nearly 2500 books with some being fully translated to Spanish by volunteers.
State Officers
Our SkillsUSA chapter was able to gain two SkillsUSA state officers for the New Jersey SkillsUSA 2023-24 year. The two State Officers are Arianna Rivera and Olamide Daodu.
Chapter Excellence Program Award
In the 2022-23 SkillsUSA New Jersey Competition, our chapter won Silvers in the State-level Chapter Excellence Program. The Chapter Excellence Program is measured by three different impacts that a SkillsUSA chapter relates and how each relates to one essential element, each from a different section of the SkillsUSA framework.
